Edit of the week - Chema Andrés by Brazil Scout

I love football edits, they are now a fundamental part of the football ecosystem. Edits have evolved from soundless grainy highlight videos to pure cinema in some cases. I watch a lot of edits during the week whilst scouting for players and want to pinpoint some of my favourite.

This week its Brazil Scout’s highlights of Chema Andrés, a player I am a big admirer of after watching him for Spain U19’s in the Euro Championships in 2024. He has a big future ahead of him, a Rolls-Royce midfielder who plays in a similar mould of Rodri of Manchester City.

What the video highlights

Physical abilities

  • Height – At 1.9m, Chema is an imposing figure on the pitch
  • Strength – His hold up play
  • Chema is very good at tackling
  • Good heading abilities

Psychological abilities

  • He has good spatial awareness
  • Great at positioning as a defensive midfielder
  • He has good anticipation when talking and passing
  • Good at tracking players
  • Good vision when passing

Technical abilities

  • His Passing range – long and short
  • Good ball control
  • Good interception when he breaks up play

What could Brazil Scout improve?

  • Highlighting the player when he intercepts the ball.
  • Music choice
  • International highlights of Chema playing for Spain

I would confidently send this video to a club head of scouting / recruitment to review as it highlights the key attributes Chema shows as a midfielder. Great work by Brazil Scout – please go like, comment and follow him on YouTube.
